Irving ISD ELEVATE

  • Calling all Irving ISD Paraprofessionals: Here is your chance to ELEVATE!

We invite you to apply for the opportunity to complete your bachelor's degree and attain your teaching certification through Irving ISD's Grow with Irving program.

    About the Program

A cohort of current non-degreed, non-certified IISD employees will be selected to participate in this program, which is offered through a partnership with Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) and the Teachworthy alternative certification program. Irving ISD will pay the tuition for the accelerated degree program and place certified graduates of the program on Irving ISD campuses upon completion. Candidates will agree to serve in Irving ISD schools for a minimum of three years after completion of the program.

By completing this program, you will earn your Bachelor's of Science in Integrated Studies from IWU. The number of courses/credits required will vary based on previous coursework. An IWU advisor will assist you with a personalized learning plan and provide a list of courses to be completed online through IWU. All courses are 5 weeks in length and will continue year round until all coursework is completed.

Professional learning courses offered through Irving ISD will also be required and help you earn additional college credits toward your degree. These courses will be completed simultaneously with IWU courses. The number of required courses will vary based on your personalized degree plan. Irving ISD coursework will require a combination of face-to-face and online training and assignments.

10 online courses will be required to complete the alternative certification program through Teachworthy, a Capturing Kids' Hearts partner. These will help ensure you will be well prepared to take the certification test(s) that you will need to graduate and be employed as a certified teacher in Irving ISD. While completing these requirements, you will remain employed in Irving ISD and perform your required duties. Time management skills will be an asset to a student in this program.
