    Deputy Superintendent of Leadership and Learning

    With 28 years in education - including 13 in Irving ISD - Ahna Gomez brings a strong foundation in both classroom instruction and campus leadership, having taught at different grade levels and led schools for more than 16 years. Her experience spans elementary through high school, with a consistent focus on driving student achievement and improving school performance.

    Gomez most recently served as Chief of Schools and, before that, as Executive Director of Secondary Schools for Irving ISD. Her tenure as principal of Irving High School was marked by several key achievements, including earning multiple Academic Achievement Distinction Designations, increasing the graduation rate by 6.2%, launching the Early College Start program, and improving attendance. She also served as an associate principal at MacArthur High School.

    In addition, she held the role of Executive Director in Fort Worth ISD, where she led support systems for campuses identified for improvement, resulting in measurable academic gains.

    Gomez began her career in Dallas ISD as an elementary math and science teacher before moving into middle school leadership roles as a teacher and principal.

    She holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas, a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Science from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Bachelor of Arts in biology from St. Mary’s University. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas.
