The Schools of Choice in Irving ISD are campuses that accept students from across attendance boundaries and focus on specific curriculum and pathways for students and families looking for options beyond the neighborhood school environment. Available at the Middle School and High School levels, Schools of Choice provide an innovative way for students to grow and provide a unique experience for students to prepare for college, career and beyond.
Each school has its own benefits and academic pathways which allow families to choose the right fit for their student.
The application window for Schools of Choice is closed for the 2025-2026 school year.

Middle School

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematicsde Zavala Middle School - Prepare your middle schooler for the future with a dedicated Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education that equips them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world and foster a love of learning. The STEM Academy at de Zavala Middle School focuses on hands-on learning, future ready skills; igniting curiosity through STEM Fusion across core subjects and exploring skills like robotics, coding, 3D Printing, laser cutting, drones, digital design and more.

High Schools

Career and Technical EducationSingley Academy - Designated as a T-STEM school since 2009, all students enrolled at Singley Academy follow a pathway within five career specializations within Career and Technical Education. Pathways include the School of Law and Public Service, School of Innovative Technology, School of Health Science, School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Services, and the School of Studio Arts to be college and career ready.
Early CollegeSingley Collegiate Academy - Located within Singley Academy, students who attend Singley Collegiate Academy have the opportunity to choose between two pathways, due to a partnership with Dallas College Northlake. Students have the opportunity to earn up to 60 hours of transferable college credit, or earn an Associate of Arts in General Studies or Associate of Science degree during high school. Singley Collegiate Academy is a designated Early College High School (ECHS).
South Irving Collegiate at Nimitz - Housed at Nimitz High School, South Irving Collegiate at Nimitz is the only P-TECH campus in the district. It offers students an opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts in Teaching, an Associate of Science, or up to 60 hours of transferable college credit. The P-TECH model works closely with local Industry Partners, where students participate in high-quality work-based learning through internships and will graduate with a robust resume, industry certifications, and the skills necessary for success.
Personalized LearningCardwell Career Preparatory Center - The school features a smaller campus and smaller class sizes to encourage high levels of learning in a more personalized environment. They are comprised of two programs; House and flexible school hours Grad LAB. House students have the typical 4 periods per day on an A/B day schedule with late arrival or early release as an option for qualifying students. The Grad LAB, available to 12th graders, is computer-based digital instruction for students who need to complete a few credits to graduate and require a half day program. *Note, Cardwell accepts students throughout the year, outside of the School of Choice application window.
