Dallas County Promise is a last dollar scholarship that provides FREE tuition to Dallas College and several partner universities. Visit the Dallas County Promise website for important deadlines and details.
To become a Dallas County Promise scholar, students take four easy steps and meet all deadlines.
1. Complete the Dallas County Promise PATH form. Beginning September 1st, visit DallasCountyPromise.org to start the process.
2. Complete the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This free application determines a student’s eligibility for need-based federal financial aid for college.
Students who are not eligible to complete the FAFSA application can complete the 2025-26 Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA). The priority deadline for the FAFSA/TASFA application is January 15.
The 25-26 FAFSA application will be available beginning December 1st and the TASFA financial aid application will become available on October 1st.
3. Apply to Dallas College or University Partners on the Apply Texas website.
4. Enroll in Fall semester courses at the partner college or university of your choice.

How many classes do I have to take each year to keep my scholarship?
In order to continue eligibility for the scholarship, you must take at least 18 credit hours per year (approximately six classes) from the Fall semester until the Summer session.

What if I take a gap year? Can I still get the Dallas Promise scholarship when I return to school?
No. You must attend the Dallas College or partner university the Fall semester after you graduate high school.

What types of financial aid are available?

What is needed to complete the FAFSA/ TASFA?
Both students and parents must create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID to complete the FAFSA. Create one HERE
An FSA ID is not needed to complete the TASFA application.
Required PARENT information includes:
- Parent FSA ID
- Prior-prior Year Federal Income Taxes, W-2 Forms and other records of money earned. (ex. 2021 tax documents for the 23-24 FAFSA/TASFA application)
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Social Security number or alien registration number
- Driver’s license number (if applicable)
- Marital status (dates)
- Parent names and birth dates
