The Data Governance Department is responsible for governing the data from the District's Student Information System (SIS), Grading and Reporting Handbooks, State and Federal Data Reporting and Validation, and other related data from applications. Our team is committed to providing effective and timely support to Irving ISD staff, students, families, and community to ensure excellence within our district.
The Data Governance team provides training and support to campus and district personnel on PEIMS Data Collections and is responsible for submitting required data to the Texas Education Agency through PEIMS submissions and to the federal government through the Office of Civil Rights. The department works to ensure that data is accurate and submitted in accordance with the timeline specified by the state and federal agencies.

Texas Education Data Standards (TEDS) are XML-based standards for Texas Student Data System (TSDS) and TSDS PEIMS data collections. TEDS includes all data elements, code tables, business rules, and data validations needed to load local education agency (LEA—Texas school district or charter school) education data. For more information on how PEIMS is changing, see What's New with PEIMS?Compatible Software Systems: As TSDS is implemented across Texas, this page will list software that has demonstrated compatibility with one or more TSDS subsystems, as verified to TEA by at least one LEA.

PEIMS Data Collections
PEIMS data is collected at least four times each school year. The major submissions are listed below:
1. Fall Collection – represents the state of LEAs as the Fall snapshot date. Although the Fall Snapshot Date may not be a day of instruction, school districts still report all students served and staff employed on that date. Exception: Leaver data are reported based on leaver status as of the last Friday in September.
2. Mid-Year Collection – includes the audited actual financial data for the prior school year.
3. Summer Collection – includes year long student attendance (regular and flexible), course completions, disciplinary actions, student restraints, Title I, Part A participation, course sections, and teacher class assignments/staff data, district/charter school and campus performance ratings, school board requests, and Foundation High School Program participation data.
4. Extended Collection – includes special education extended year services (ESY) student data for the school year, student flexible attendance for credit recovery, and summertime dual credit course completion for students.
