    background check 

     

    COMPLETE BACKGROUND CHECK - Applicants are required to complete and pass a background check using the links below. This process can take 7 to 10 days. Please note, Irving ISD employees do not have to complete a background check as background checks are a part of the hiring process.

    Training

     

    ATTEND TRAINING - All applicants will attend an orientation training. This training is mandatory for all mentors. For flexibility, trainings will be held virtually via Zoom. 

    Please reach out to Executive Director of Intervention Services, Bel Williams at bewilliams@irvingisd.net, to set up your orientation if you are signing up to mentor after November 1, 2024.

    GET MATCHED - Once the previous three steps have been completed, mentors will be matched with a mentee. Information will be sent to you and your assigned campus.

    SCHOOL VISITS - All mentors are required to visit their mentee a minimum of two times per month (ideally 2--4 times per month). Mentors are responsible for calling the school to confirm mentee attendance before each visit.

  • Consider becoming a mentor so you can help make a difference in a student’s life. There is an increasing need for student mentor support, and we anticipate that this need will continue to grow. Studies show mentoring can help students to:
