Rosseven Nava, Principal
Rosseven Nava, an educator of 19 years and an Irving ISD graduate, is Principal of Schulze Elementary School.
“As a proud product of Irving and an alumnus of Nimitz High School, I am truly honored to join Schulze Elementary and contribute to its ongoing journey of excellence,” says Nava. “With a focus on instructional practice and experience inframeworks that drive change, I am dedicated to fostering an environment that embraces innovation and supports academic achievement for all. Together, we will help every student reach their full potential.”
Nava most recently served Irving ISD as Assistant Principal at Nimitz High School. Prior to joining Team Irving, she acquired seven years of administrator experience as a Principal and Assistant Principal in Dallas ISD. She was also an Instructional Coach, Interventionist, Alternative Certification Program Coordinator and Bilingual Teacher in Dallas ISD and Denton ISD.
Nava earned an Associate’s degree from ITT Technical Institute, a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Dallas Baptist University and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas. She is also pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Jon Huricks, Assistant Principal
Mr. Huricks is excited to begin the 2025-2026 school year serving as an Assistant Principal at Schulze Elementary. Before joining the Schulze team, Mr. Huricks served as an Assistant Principal for Townsell Elementary for two years. This is his twenty first year in education. Mr. Huricks is a graduate from the prestigious Grambling University with a Bachelor of Science in - Electronics Engineering Technology and went on to earn his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of North Texas. Mr. Huricks served as a Math teacher for fourth, sixth, and seventh grade students for a combined length of fourteen years. Mr. Huricks is looking forward to engaging with teachers, students, staff, and parents to help Schulze Elementary have a great and successful school year.

Maria Avalos Fernandez, Assistant Principal
I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at Schulze Elementary School, where I am dedicated to fostering a safe, supportive, and academically rigorous environment for all students. Since beginning my career in education in 2005, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of instructional roles including classroom teacher and instructional coach. These experiences have provided me with a strong foundation in curriculum, instruction, and student-centered leadership.
I earned my Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University in 2017 and am currently completing my EdD in Educational Administration at the University of Texas at El Paso. I am deeply passionate about literacy and academic success for all students and I am looking forward to work collaboratively with teachers, families, and the community to ensure every child reaches their fullest potential.
In addition to my leadership role, I am a proud mother of three and grandmother, and I have also published a children’s book, reflecting my commitment to inspiring young readers. My goal each day is to empower students and staff through meaningful relationships, high expectations, and an unwavering belief in their ability to succeed.
